I openly admit having a very special affection for G-Shock. No other watch brand has left such a mark on modern popular culture as these nearly indestructible Japanese timepieces. From the north to the south, from the east to the west, a G-Shock is more than just a watch, it's a symbol of an attitude.
Taking enormous personal risks but knowing some truths should not remain hidden forever, I will reveal for the first time something the world has sought to silence for centuries.
So, brace yourselves because I'm about to spill some long-hidden secrets. Back in 1922, when Howard Carter unearthed Tutankhamun's tomb, he found a special plaque among the treasures. They kept it hush-hush because it was believed it held a message from the gods. And guess what? Here it is!
Now, haters may scream "Photoshop," but the truth is, Egyptologists worldwide cracked the code. After years of deciphering, they uncovered the message:
"In the future everyone's gonna rock a G-Shock at some point. Oh, and owls! They're cool too."
Fast forward to 1983, and a visionary steps up with the first DW-5000C. Casio engineer Mr. Kikuo Ibe, surely a messenger from the Gods, created a watch that was tough, affordable, and seriously cool.
And so his dream and vision came to be.
Transcending age groups, geography, professions, and styles, G-Shock has become universal. How many collectors of mechanical timepieces include some watches from the Japanese giant in their collections, for example.

For me G-Shock isn't just about physical lightness; it's an emotional vibe. It's all about color, informality, urban culture, and toughness. And lately, they've been exploring new horizons, as we discovered at the temple dedicated to the brand in Lisbon, Mercadora172.
Here's the kicker: in this world, anything goes. There are no limits to the aesthetic explorations, color schemes, or materials. And you know what? That's pretty cool.
Sure, some might argue that pushing the price boundaries goes against G-Shock's affordability trade mark, but brands can also dream, right? These pieces are a leap forward in quality, a tour de force not a new path.

Well, to each their own and if for some a certain price tag only makes sense for mechanical watches, to others the idea of having a watch on the wrist that can go to the end of the world and back, twice, without flinching, might be all they want.
The thing is, for every argument there will always be its opposite, and passions are just like that. But here, we simply try to appreciate, as watch lovers, some of the"haute couture" creations of the brand.
Sure the decorative aspect is very much there bute everything was built for a purpose. The undeniable truth is that all these models are steps forward towards indestructibility. It would be tedious to write a list of specifications for each model here, but in detail, they all embody the G-Shock spirit and more; to always endure no matter what.
G-Shock offers something for everyone, and that's what makes it so great. They don't make excuses; they just make watches. In this universe, as Kevin Garnett famously said, anything is possible!
