Another story?
This one is worth telling especially since everything began on Christmas Eve last year.
The week before Christmas, I found myself feeling somewhat down, like a sense of emptiness that I concluded could only be filled by buying a new watch. No sooner thought than done. I left home, went window shopping, and ended up buying not one but two new watches.

Surprise, surprise! I came back home with two G-Shocks: a classic DW and a model from the 2100 series to add to my all-metal one.
Did this purchase ease the feeling of emptiness? Completely!
Not only that but it also sparked our imagination and the desire to organize an event in partnership with G-Shock.
On Christmas Eve, after the family dinner, I started brainstorming about a gathering for enthusiasts of the brand. Finding the right partner for what WMP had in mind was crucial, and fortunately, we had the perfect one: the MAD Marvilla Art District artistic residence.
As an open-door artistic residence, MAD Marvilla fosters direct contact between creators and visitors. So, how about an event where artists are given G-Shock models to modify artistically?
The idea was immediately embraced by the MAD Marvilla managers and, together with G-Shock, we began to shape the event MAD About G-Shock.
The meeting exceeded our expectations. In the beautiful premises of MAD Marvilla, under the Lisbon sunlight on a late afternoon, enthusiasts of all ages, curious onlookers, and even surprised visitors mingled, shared ideas, looked at and tried on watches, and admired the artistic interventions on the models provided by G-Shock.
At the end of the day, the truth is that this meeting demonstrates the vitality and the cult following a brand that is much more then the watches they create, it's part of modern popular culture.
At the origin of the idea called Watch Meeting Point was the desire to unite companies, ideas, brands, and people. MAD About G-Shock was all of that and, as such, it would be impossible not to thank everyone who did their best to provide the community of enthusiasts with a different kind of evening.

MAD Marvilla challenged five artists. The starting point was the new GA-2100-7A, the endpoint was each artist's inspiration.

A special thanks to G-Shock Portugal, who, in partnership with the artist Smile, offered a piece created to commemorate the brand's 40th anniversary for a raffle. The participants' donations went to the Nariz Vermelho Association, which aims to alleviate the suffering of hospitalized children. It was the perfect conclusion to a special afternoon.
PS: A very special thank you to José Zenha (you know why!)
